What is TGS Records and why knowing a bit about BandLab is useful
TGS Records is a place for song writers to gather and share what they have been doing and a place for people to build bands as part of our Build a Band Project. A lot of the leg work for both projects takes place online, but in keeping with The Guitar Socials firmly held belief that nothing matters if it doesn’t have a tangible in real life outcome, there are lots of opportunities to get together with other people at our events, including the much loved Candle Light Live where people can perform, but also network and build bands to ultimately go on a perform live.
How it works online
All participants will have a membership with The Guitar Social or an active Patreon membership and might also be attending our workshops, jams and events. The songwriters collaborate and share what they have been doing through BandLab, an online DAW (digital audio workstation) that allows anyone with an internet connection, smart phone or computer, to capture and record music.
BandLab is slightly different from other DAW’s in that it operates like a social media platform, such as Facebook, where other uses have the means to communicate with each and even collaborate on each other’s music.
All song writers are given a concept to work towards each week, delivered via BandLab.
We'll be recording this induction so if you can't make it in person, please take out the online ticket so I can send you a recording of the session.
The Guitar Social is all about real world experiences so anything we do online is there to support our frequent visits to the real world. There's a monthly 2 hour workshop on the second Sunday of every month where new songwriting concepts are explored. You can also take the opportunity to attend and perform at our monthly, members only candle light live event, which is like an open Mic, but with the lights low and the public closed out.
Anyone interested in building a band is encouraged to attend candle light live where there will be networking opportunities.
This provides at least two in person events every month wether you are a song writer or someone looking to form real world musical connections.
But, there’s more. As a member, you get priority bookings to perform at our weekly open mic or at our extra special filmed and recorded event Live Lounge.
