A five day Arts festival designed by and for early careers artists from a wide range of creative disciplines across London's artistic scenes. It brings new and diverse East London artists for shows and workshops that centre joyful interactive live art in a relaxed, accessible pub environment. After a booming success last year, London Hospital Tavern and PillowTalk Theatre have again joined forces to create a week long programme filled with storytelling, drag, comedy and more within Whitechapel's most intimate venue.

Eager to learn more about the skills and talent behind our shows? For all fellow creatives, or those just looking to learn a new skill, artist networking events and free workshops will be lead by performers during afternoons.

Monday, Jodie Mitchell

Prince of accessible content and OFFIE Award winning "brilliant... a natural comic" (The Guardian). John Travulva critiques his best known tick-box character: queer, non-binary, neurodiverse class-straddler Jodie Mitchell. Jodie has had great success appearing on Comedy Central Live and BBC Radio 4, writing for Sex Education and as a Funny [Women] Award Finalist, but should John do his debut show as them? He's not sure, he gets a lot of praise as himself:

"John Travulva's set is so funny it makes all the comedy in my life up to this point redundant." ~ Theatre Bubble

"The comedy turn by John Travulva (the excellent Jodie Mitchell) left me with actual tears of laughter running down my face." ~ Diva

"Standout talent... consistently funny while also being very sharp and moving." ~ The Stage

"Travulva... has the audience in the palm of their hand, with excellent comic timing and a real warmth." ~ Upper Circle

Tuesday, Shortbread Improv

One hour of completely improvised mayhem based entirely on your suggestions. We can't write a description for this, that's your job on the night!

“It’s ridiculous, and it’s ridiculously funny” ~ EdFringeReview.

Wednesday, Niall Moorjani

“A Fairie Tale” is a brand new and original piece of storytelling from Niall Moorjani (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Scottish International Storytelling Festival and Brighton Fringe), exploring Scottish race and gender identities through a medieval fae inspired landscape. The show is set to live music from the fantastic Diana Redgrave, expect strangeness, sexy fairies and swearing in an evening, weird wildness, which puts storytelling back into the world of the adult.

“Genius reinvention of the form” ~ Fringe of Colour

“Storytelling at its finest” ~ The Skinny (5 stars)

Thursday, Superbrown Comedy

An Asian and minority ethnic group comedy night, aimed at developing comedy identities and to steer away from low hanging fruit. A generous collection of comedians centred around this concept pulls a unique twist to East London’s comedy scene, in an intimate venue to create a night not to be missed!

Designed to make a distinctive and exciting experience for everyone in an open-minded, inclusive environment, think of us a “spiced up” comedy show.

Acts: Manraj Bahra, Farhan Solo, Jenan Younis, Laura Kojo, Nalin Dissanayake, Salehi Masud, Krishna

Headliner: Fatiha El Ghorri

MC: Monica Chatterjee

Ria Lena's set was excellent, half new and half familiar material with a twist. No song, perhaps do one on subjects that would not date, like the proliferation of doorbell cams / surveillance ? No material on the locality, which has a varied history to explore. Her presentation was spot on with drive and good timing. It was good to see her live, looking trim. The venue needed better toilets for the number of customers. on the night.

Been three times now and each time it's a great evening out and amazing material from all the comics. I would definitely recommend attending this and future events. The MC's interact greatly with the audience and the bar staff are very helpful and friendly.
