Quintessentially opulent, The English Grill at The Rubens at the Palace Hotel, offers British cuisine in rich surroundings. Within a luxurious dining room including a magnificent glass wall into the kitchen, The Rubens boasts 5* service whilst being warm and welcoming. Dishes offer the finest British and seasonal produce, including top-quality cuts of meat, handled to perfection in the kitchen's charcoal-fired Josper grill.
The flagship restaurant offers classic dishes, including salads, delicious fish courses and desserts, as well as a cheese trolley of British cheeses. To offer a unique experience, The English Grill also adds tableside theatre with dishes being brought to the table, this can include the carving of roasts, flambeed crepes, filleting of the famous Dover Sole and carving of smoked Salmon.

Experience the kitchen up close with Executive Chef Ben Kelliher, watching the chefs prep as you enjoy a glass of Champagne and canapés. Afterwards, indulge in a four-course gourmet experience in The English Grill. Our head sommelier Vincent Bouin will be on hand for expert knowledge and guidance for your choice of beverages.
The experience must be booked 24-hours in advance and full pre-payment will be due 7 days prior to arrival.

Cooking Class: Ben Kelliher's Beef Wellington
Join Executive Chef Ben Kelliher for a one-hour cooking class.
Learn and experience how to make the perfect beef wellington. During the experience, you'll enjoy a glass of champagne and canapés. The experience includes a three-course dinner consisting of our famous London Burrata as a starter, the beef wellington as the main course and our founder and president, Mrs Bea Tollman’s famous Baked Vanilla Cheesecake as dessert.

Exclusive Experience: Create a plant-based menu at Borough Market
£200 per person
Meet our Executive Chef Ben Kelliher at the hotel to learn how The Rubens at the Palace is reducing food waste in partnership with Winnow’s cutting-edge monitoring technology, and how we use surplus produce creatively in the kitchen. Chef Ben will also talk about the sustainable and responsible consumption of food, explaining how we work closely with the very best local and responsible suppliers. You will then visit Borough Market together, a historic market dating back to the 12th century with an emphasis on high-quality food and sustainable production.
The itinerary
You will first stop at Flor wine bar to discuss your personal requirements and preferences to create a plant-based seven-course menu with produce sourced at the market. Chef Ben will introduce you to Bread Ahead, where the bread is made right in the market, and Ted’s Veg to buy the ingredients for your starter. Ted’s Veg are proud participants in Planzhero’s plight to eradicate wastage, and the produce is chemical-free. You will meet the suppliers at Turnips, who are focused on providence and seasonality, to buy the ingredients for your main course, and Palace Culture to buy vegan cheese handcrafted in Crystal Palace, London.
You will then return to The Rubens at the Palace, where Chef Ben will personally create a seven-course meal to enjoy in our spectacular English Grill, including:
