Description
Coming from Southwark's Old Union arches is Israeli restaurant Bala Baya, bringing the finest food from Tel Aviv.
Bala Baya is split between a more relaxed daytime menu of pittas, with the option to take away, and a more formal dining experience in the evening. The pittas are filled with a number of stuffings, including stews and slow cooked meats, such as braised lamb with quince, pecorino and salad. Each pitta can be spiced up with a number of homemade sauces and salads.
At night, Bala Baya shows off its Israeli heritage, with dishes such as tea-smoked aubergine with harissa and date glaze with a spicy nut crumb, or salt-baked blackened salmon with tahini. Their cocktail menu is crafted by an award-winning bar tender, and uses inventive ingredients for some amazing concoctions, like a tomato and cucumber negroni with a feta garnish. For soft drinks, the bar will become London's first ever Gazoz bar; a traditional sparkling drink infused with flavours such as plum with fig and lemon thyme.
