Rola Wala

Description

Having made huge waves in London's food scene with its food truck and pop-up appearances, Rola Wala has now firmly cemented itself to a permanent site in the Spitalfields area. Serving freshly made Indian street food, the new site shows off inventive recipes and its special sourdough naan.

Despite every dish here being made-up of at least 43 ingredients, the restaurant aims to create healthy, low-calorie dishes. The menu revolves around a 'build-your-own-dish' structure, where guests choose a base - sourdough naan, rice, charred broccoli or masala noodles - before topping each with flavoursome curries and lentils. This includes dishes such as red daal, spicy Nagaland lamb, Keralan black chickpea and Bengali beef, a slow cooked beef brisket seasoned using East Indian spices.

Sweetening the deal - literally in some cases - the restaurant also boasts a range of sweet and savoury chutneys, starting from mango and lime on the milder side of the scale and reaching the spice of Naga chilli on the other end of the spectrum.
