Learn how to channel your voice and views through art and writing
We all have something to say, but it can sometimes feel like it’s becoming harder to be heard. Between all the #Girlboss content on Instagram and hot takes on Twitter, how can you get your message across on topics that are important to you — and make other people realise just how important what you’re saying is?
Part of the battle is using words and images in clear, concise, and impactful ways. This has been an important part of activism for centuries: plenty of revolutions and movements across history have used slogans and visuals to rally support and get their message across. Think #Metoo; a raised, closed fist for racial equality and BLM; and the Extinction Rebellion logo.
Join illustrator Hazel Mead and writer Monica Karpinski for a workshop where you’ll learn how to channel and express your own radical voice through art and writing.
In this workshop, you will learn:
No prior writing or artistic experience is required for this workshop: we believe that everyone can draw and write, and that everyone has a powerful voice that should be shared.
We will walk you through each step of the creation process with prompts, templates, and examples, so that no matter your skill level, you will be able to leave with something you’ve created.
Art supplies will be provided, and you’ll be able to order food and drink from our wonderful hosts, Kindred, who have a full cafe and restaurant on-site. The space is fully accessible via lift but please let us know about any accessibility needs you have, so that we can make sure that the space is comfortable for you to use.
