Mambow

Description

Mambow in Clapton is a high-energy spot that brings bold Malaysian flavours to East London. Tucked away on Lower Clapton Road, this Bib Gourmand-awarded restaurant is the brainchild of chef Abby Lee, who first made waves with her Peckham pop-up before settling into this permanent home.

The space is compact but buzzing, with a semi-covered terrace out back and a lively, communal vibe inside. Expect a mix of counter seating and cosy tables, all set against a backdrop of warm lighting and playful, tropical touches that nod to the restaurant’s Southeast Asian roots.

What sets Mambow apart is its unapologetically fiery menu, inspired by Abby’s family recipes and her time spent cooking in Singapore and Malaysia. The dishes are punchy, vibrant, and made to share, such as otak-otak prawn toast, stuffed squid, and a rotating selection of kerabu (Malaysian salads).

The drinks list leans natural and low-intervention, with a standout house cocktail, the '100+ Sour,' that’s become a bit of a signature.
