Neptune

Description

Neptune is the second opening from chef Brett Redman and former fashion stylist Margaret Crow. The duo, who launched The Richmond in Hackney back in 2015, are the brains behind this seafood spot located in the refurbished Principal Hotel London.

The menu takes a fun and accessible approach to British cooking, with an oyster and shellfish bar occupying the central space of the restaurant. While the food is primarily based around British seafood, it takes significant influence from Californian and Australian cuisine as well - Redman is an Aussie native. You can find everything from caviar on waffles to smoked eel chowder, crab spaghetti and a range of tasty desserts.

While based in a swanky hotel, Neptune is a great neighbourhood eatery. Acknowledging the creative history of the area, it could be a perfect breeding ground for the 21st Century's own "Bloomsbury Salon" crowd. This is reflected in its interiors which draw on style points from art-deco and ocean-inspired restaurants of the 70s and 80s. Think frilled lampshades, pink-hued ceilings and colourful lounge chairs.
