On Thursday the 25th if January, The White Horse, Wembley Park Boulevard will be a hot bed of Scottish Culture when it turns blue and white in celebration of Burns Night. With bagpipes, haggis and cranachan on offer, the pub promises to be the best place south of Hadrian’s Wall to celebrate Scotland’s most famous literary figure.
The evening, which costs just £39 for a three-course pre-ordered meal, kicks off at 6.45pm with a piper playing on The Boulevard, before piping the guests into the pub and upstairs to the communal dining tables. Diners will all be seated by 7.15pm and, from there, the fun really starts with a menu including a traditional haggis – which will be piped into the room and addressed as is the Scottish custom – and cranachan, a popular Scottish dessert. A suggested flight of 3 set whiskies can be purchased for a special price of £15 to enjoy with the 3 toasts.
There will be a number of readings and toasts to Robbie Burns and the evening will finish in traditional style with guests joining in a rendition of Auld Lang Syne, one of Burns’ most famous works.
Burns Night is such a fantastic opportunity to bring a touch of The Highlands to North West London – and we are really excited by the event we’ve pulled together. It’s got all the essential elements, the food, the bagpipes, the piping in of the haggis, and someone who is an expert on the man himself to talk a little about Burns’ life and works.
We look forward to giving a warm Wembley welcome to both Scots looking for a touch of home and all those who just want to try something different on a cold January evening. We promise to make sure the great chieftain o’ the puddin’-race is given the gravitas and celebration it deserves.
