Cernunnos: the ancient god of the hunt - half man, half stag, and halfcut most of the time since his business collapsed AGAIN.

Stag King is a solo show about personhood, productivity and what happens when your role is made redundant.

This performance lecture / drag show explores the varied nature of Cernunnos’s previous jobs, including: Revered God, Stag Night Entertainer and, since 2020, Drag King. This is a show about how we survive and find meaning in our lives while many of our established sources of identity disappear. As ‘traditional’ gender roles transform, unemployment soars and automation has the potential to rule out whole professions, what can we learn from a cervitaur whose working life peaked in the palaeolithic era?

Liberty Martin is a writer, performer, storyteller and a member of Degenerate Fox, the London Neo-Futurists. Liberty has credits in TV and theatre and recently wrote the script for M.E.H, a show exploring the diagnosis of ‘hysteria’ through physical theatre, drag and magic.

"...intellectual and hilarious feminist histories”

**** The List, on M.E.H

"With her warm stage persona Liberty lulls us into a fascinating world which she then mischievously turns on its head, delighting and provoking us into more nuanced thought.”

— Haley McGee, Solo Show Creation Lab
