Wine Club is back once again and touching down in Alsace this July!
The Alsace region in the far North-Eastern corner of France borders with Germany, and distinguishes itself from other French wines due to its strong Franco-Germanic influences. Due to its orientation amongst the Vosges mountains and the Rhine, Alsace's ancient soils are rich with minerals and it's extraordinary continental climate make it ideal for developing flavoursome grapes full of fruits, flowers, and spices. Predominantly a white wine dominated part of the country, Alsace produces large quantities of Pinot Gris and is the only French region to grow significant quantities of Riesling and Gewürztraminer.
Alsace wines are aromatic and well-balanced, with impressive acidity and structure, that make for wine that pairs remarkably with food; a pairing you can learn all about as you taste and appreciate what qualities of wine compliment particular foods, and sample on small canapés provided.
