St John's Tavern London

Description

St John’s Tavern isn’t just your local - it’s a North London icon with a modern twist. Part of the Urban Pubs & Bars family, this Victorian beauty has all the grit and charm you’d expect, with a bold line-up of craft beers, cask ales, cocktails and wines pouring from the bar. The kitchen’s seasonal menu keeps things fresh, championing the best of British produce with dishes made for feasting - from big plates that bring the table together to roasts that make Sundays worth showing up for.

But the real magic happens upstairs. The first floor plays host to one of North London’s most exciting private hire spaces - the backdrop for supper clubs, one-off dinners, launch parties and celebrations that push things beyond the everyday pub vibe. It’s a room built for atmosphere, where you can bring people together for something a little different, whether that’s a chef-led tasting menu, a long-table banquet or just a proper knees-up with your crew.

St John’s is where heritage meets edge, where the ordinary night out turns into something bigger - and where food, drink and good times always steal the show.

Menus

  • Cuisine

    This venue serves British food.

  • A word from the chef:

Our menu at St John’s Tavern is built around seasonality, simplicity and big, confident flavours. We’ve taken inspiration from classic British and European cooking, then added a modern edge with bold pairings and thoughtful produce. You’ll find plates designed to share - from coal-kissed steak tartare and saffron-spiked squid to vibrant beetroot with tahini and orange. Mains are hearty yet refined: grilled poussin with Caesar, cider-braised pork chop with turnips, trout with watercress velouté, and a twice-baked cheese soufflé that feels indulgent but fresh. For plant-based diners, lentils with spiced aubergine and mint bring just as much punch. To finish, it’s all about balance and comfort - Basque cheesecake with plums, chocolate cremeux with praline, and a simple but perfect vanilla ice cream with butterscotch. It’s food that feels familiar yet surprising, made for lingering suppers, long tables and plenty of good wine.
