Folkstock Records presents: Kelly Oliver and Minnie Birch.Time Out Rising Stars have  teamed up with Folkstock records, an altuistic acoustic folk and roots mentoring programme set up by Helen Meissner,
to present you with two awesome artists to open the night.

“A fantastic new talent” - Chris Hawkins, BBC 6 Music

“getting on everyone’s radar...someone pretty special” — Spiral Earth

In 2015, success looks set to continue as Kelly has a range of headline shows and support slots in the pipeline. Work has already begun on her next album, and her single 'Jericho' attracted rave reviews, including write ups from The Telegraph and Folk Radio UK, and airplay on numerous BBC stations including BBC Radio 2 (Bob Harris Sunday and The Folk Show) and BBC 6 Music. Her latest double A side singles Same World/Rio are due for release in September 2015, with Same World gaining BBC Radio 2 play on The Folk Show. Listen to Same World and Rio. Check out Jericho here.

“Just gorgeous” – Tom Robinson BBC 6Music

“A lovely surprise, her presence and songs made my evening, a rare treat” – James Yorkston

A regular live performer, Samantha has played throughout the UK from small town pubs to large festivals and major London venues (Union Chapel, Vortex, Cecil Sharp House).  She recently released a debut album of her own songs, Dark Nights Make For Brighter Days which has been enjoying both critical acclaim and radio play (BBC 6 Music, KCRW, Resonance FM).

“Very, very special” – Lauren Laverne, BBC 6 Music

“Intriguing, compelling and exceptional. A man to watch” – The Guardian

The Magic Lantern is the musical moniker of Jamie Doe. With an immediately arresting voice that has been compared to Chet Baker and Jeff Buckley and a unique guitar style that takes elements of folk fingerpicking, Flamenco and West African music, the 10 songs that make up his second album – Love of Too Much Living – sound deceptively simple at first but open up to reveal a warmth, humour and wisdom that mark The Magic Lantern out as an artist with a unique songwriting voice.

"Really individual Celtic folk rock group"Mike Harding, BBC

“Genuinely the next big thing on the folk scene”Andy O’Hare, BBC

Roving Crows have been carving out their niche in the UK folk music scene since early 2009. Their powerful live performance and unique sound has seen them receive several awards and achieve national airplay on BBC Radio 2. They have achieved a ‘ones to watch’ status in the UK folk scene performing alongside artists such as Kate Rusby, Steeleye Span, Levellers and Bellowhead.Their music video for new single 'Casanova Is Burning' was playlisted by MTV.

"Sam has such a beautiful voice and sings with so much soul. I've seen him perform live a few times and he's amazing" Cara Dillon

"Terrific"  Mark Radcliffe

Sam is a 22-year-old singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from Norfolk. His debut EP, entitled 'Your Way Home' (released in March 2013 and featuring Beth Porter (Eliza Carthy Band) on cello) created a buzz of interest in the folk scene and was described by Bright Young Folk as a 'captivating introduction to a name we'll be sure not to forget'. He has since gained support slots with the likes of Cara Dillon, Jim Moray and Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman, as well as a number of headline slots, and is now touring with his band, Jamie Francis on banjo and Evan Carson (The Willows) on bodhran.
