Lucky is a sentiment that I've always applied to working at DesignMyNight. I get to experience hospitality in a really unique way, and visiting luxury experiences isn't necessarily afforded to the many.
In a post-COVID world where the cost of living crisis has impacted more than it hasn't, we've noticed that while people may be going out less, they're spending more. They want to spend their money on experiences, but they want them to be valuable, and worth their time/funds.
Nobu remains worth it.
Try omakase dining at Nobu.
A brand name that trickles off the tongue when people think about luxury dining, celebrity dining and elite experiences, Nobu first opened their doors in 1994, with the first Nobu hotel opened in 2013 in Vegas. 31 years in food and drink is no easy feat for a business in today's economy. But without comprising on quality or customer satisfaction, I truly believe Nobu's standing of the test of time is a merit to their levels of expectation.
We were invited to learn more about their Portman Square hotel, from the suites and omakase dining, to the private hire spaces. This wasn't my first time at Nobu, having stayed at their Shoreditch hotel only a few years before, but it reignited my passion for a brand that really does put diners and guests first.
The hotel rooms at Nobu Portman Square.
Here's what I learnt, thought and feel about that experience:
- The location at 22 Portman Square feels tucked away amongst the historic terraced housing, but a walk to Bond Street only took us 10 minutes, making it a great base for special occasions and business trips alike.
- Nobu is loyalty first. It was clear when dining that repeat guests were both present and warmly welcomed.
- The signature Omakase menu (a tasting, multi-course menu decided by the chefs) is a divine introduction to Nobu's skills and palate awareness. It's worth it for £125 for their signature experience, and I'd recommend it for both seasoned lovers of Japanese food and those wanting to try it for the first time.
- They can easily accommodate for dietary requirements, and didn't mind us asking mostly for white fish or salmon only.
- The hotel rooms epitomise luxury, from the quality of sheets and the bath products, down to the fresh cut flowers.
