London Underground drivers are walking
out across four days this month, with severe disruption hitting
from midday on Tuesday 19th May, through to Friday 22nd May. For
commuters, it's quite the headache. For restaurants? We think
it's a chance to do something about it.
London's pubs and restaurants will see sales and reservations drop substantially during these strikes, so naturally, a growing number of venues are flipping the script and using the disruption as a reason to bring people in with some genuinely good offers. Whether you're working from home this week, staying local, or just looking for an excuse to eat out without the commute stress, here's some ideas from us on where to go.
We'll keep this updated as more offers come in - if your venue is running a deal, get in touch with katie@designmynight.com.

Tube strikes won't stop London's best restaurants from inviting you in.
Richoux - 50% Off À La Carte
One of the best offers we've seen this strike season comes from classic London all-day dining institution Richoux. They're running 50% off their full à la carte menu on Tuesday 20th and Thursday 22nd May - that's both lunch and dinner - for the exact days the tube is most disrupted. Book a table for two and eat like you're at a special occasion for very much not special occasion prices. Think eggs Benedict, Dover sole, afternoon tea classics and proper puddings, all at half the usual cost.
The details:
- 50% off the full à la carte menu
- Available Tuesday 20 May and Thursday 22 May
- Valid for both lunch and dinner
- Pre-booking recommended

The offer launched during the April strikes and runs on every strike day going forward.

When Are the May 2026 Tube Strikes?
- In case you need the dates saved somewhere useful: Tuesday 19th May (from midday) through to Wednesday 20th May (midday), and Thursday 21st May (midday) through to Friday 22nd May (midday).
- Services including buses, the Elizabeth line, the DLR, and the London Overground are not affected and will be running as normal, though we definitely expect them to be significantly busier than usual.
- On Tuesday and Thursday, expect normal tube service until midday followed by severe disruption into the afternoon and evening. On Wednesday and Friday, expect severe disruption in the morning, clearing gradually through the day.
