But if food, music, and culture sound more like your thing, you'll be delighted to hear that Japan Matsuri, a free-to-enter Japanese festival, is returning to Trafalgar Square this October.

What Is Japan Matsuri?
Japan Matsuri is the UK’s biggest annual festival of Japanese culture and food, bringing together Japanese traditions, music, dance, food and entertainment in the heart of London. It has been running since 2009 and has been held at Trafalgar Square since 2012.
What Is On The Agenda At Japan Matsuri?
There’s plenty happening throughout the day for you to enjoy. Here's some of what you can expect:
- Live music and taiko drumming
- Traditional Japanese dancing
- Japanese martial arts and a British Sumo demonstration
- Cosplay, with characters from anime, manga, and games
- Radio Taiso, a classic Japanese exercise routine that you can join
- Japanese music, from shamisen and Okinawan music to modern pop
- Japanese sword dance
- Food stalls, serving everything from ramen and onigiri to buns, mochi, karaage, katsu curry and matcha
- Craft stalls selling Japanese goods
