Save Our Cider: Londoners Can Sip On Free Pints This Thursday

Hawkes Cideer

Free pints? That's our kind of heatwave antidote.

Hawkes Cider are stepping up Londoners' Thirsty Thursday game this week, serving up 5000 free pints to highlight the 2.5 million apples that go to waste in the UK every day.

The giveaway will also coincide with the launch of Hawkes Apple Donors -  a drive to collect unloved and unwanted apples from gardens, orchards and parks across the country. The urban brewery is keen to get Brits thinking about the sheer volume of apples that rot away every year - which is equivalent to 3 and a half pints of cider every second.

To be in with a chance of grabbing yourself a glass, you’ll have to hotfoot it down to Bermondsey between 2pm and 8pm this Thursday. For extra brownie points? Take a bag of apples with you or order one of the taproom’s mail-in boxes. Your donation could go on to become a bottle of This Is London - a cider, which was created from last year's hugely successful drive, raising money for Social Orchards Urban Planting.

To claim your free pint head down to Hawkes Cidery and Taproom (86-92 Druid Street, SE1 2HQ) on Thursday 13th of August between 2pm and 8pm. You can find out more about the event here.
