British Rock Bands Launch Their Own Beers

Music and beer, a match made in heaven.

"Throw those curtains wide" my friends, because a new day is dawning in the life and times of alternative rock outfit Elbow. The Manchester five-piece are marking the release of their sixth studio album with Charge, a traditional British real ale with a noticeably spicy American feel to it. What's more, this isn't even the first time the Mercury award winning band have done something like this; with the band's self-titled debut beer proving a massive hit with fans and beer enthusiasts alike.

But hold on a second, it's not all about Elbow you know. Rock legends Status Quo might well be most famous for classic anthems like Whatever You Want and Rockin' All Over The World - but they're also keen to showcase their talents for delivering fine malty amber ales. They've linked up with Wychwood Brewery to produce Piledriver, a 4.3% ABV beer named after the band's album from 44 years ago. With both beers scheduled for release this year, fans could find themselves sipping on an Elbow beer, in their Elbow t-shirt, whilst taking in an Elbow gig. You can't get much more rock and roll than that.
