Searcys One New Change London - Lounge Bar Review

The Searcys story began in 1847, and has since been one of the UK’s most prestigious names. With a dedicated passion for providing quality in everything, and having a bar that serves the largest selection of champagne cocktails in London, I had to go see what it was all about.

The Venue

Before I had even walked into Searcys One New Change I could see the gleaming champagne glasses from a distance, already creating a distinctive look from afar. Inside, the venue oozes sophistication and style; when it came to the interior and furnishings, the attention to detail was evident. With a warm orange colour throughout and chocolate brown furniture, it definitely portrays a laid back atmosphere.

The centre of the room was the real eye catcher, with a circular bar and bright white bar stools surrounding it. Towards the back was another bar where huge champagne bottles were sitting waiting to be popped open. Located on the first floor of One New Change shopping centre in St. Paul's, you would never expect to find this stylish champagne bar.

The warm colours instantly makes you feel relaxed and promotes the laid back atmosphere.

The Atmosphere and Clientele

The atmosphere throughout the evening was positively buzzing, with City professionals enjoying a few drinks after a long week at work. The room was with filled with chatter, laughs and cocktails; and the wonderfully attentive staff were always there to top up your glass if needed. The smooth background music was the perfect backdrop to the evening, and the fact that the venue wasn’t full made it the perfect place to unwind and relax.

The circular bar and glass holders makes the venue stand out.

The Food and Drinks

I know champagne isn’t for everyone but I now have a new found love for the fizz (particularly Taittinger Prestige Rosé NV). If you find champagne too bitter I highly recommend the Taittinger Prestige Rose (sweet with a taste of red berries) or the Taittinger Nocturne Sec (very very sweet.) Unfortunately I didn’t try the champagne cocktails but judging by everyone else they seemed to be a big hit - especially during Happy Hour.

Paired with our glasses of champagne we had the large mixed charcuterie platter; the stunning selection of cured meats were delicious and very rich in flavour. It was the perfect pre-dinner bite.

The mixed charcuterie platter was a perfect match with the champagne.

Summary

Definitely a trendy hotspot in the City, I had a lovely evening and it was the perfect end to the week. The buzzing atmosphere, stylish setting and friendly staff helps you unwind. Being in a prime location and serving delicious drinks and food, you find Searcys One New Change hard to beat.
