Wish we hadn't bothered! On our previous two visits we were disappointed with the service but, as it had been a long time since we last visited (over a year), we thought we would give it another go....we're really sorry we did! Don't get me wrong, the place has atmosphere and is buzzy but service is slow and - as for food - when we reserved out table we specifically advised that we wished to opt for the 'advertised' Champagne and Meatballs....but as early as 5:30pm in the evening we were informed there were NO MEATBALLS and all we could only select from was the 'Nibbles' menu!! Very disappointed indeed....especially so as we had just ordered and opened a bottle of champagne so couldn't immediately leave as we were only one glass into the bottle. If we had been informed beforehand, we would not have bothered with the champers and would have gone elsewhere. I now have Searcy's 1847 on my list of NEVER VISIT AGAIN!! ytur0n visited Searcys 1847 on 16 Feb 2017

A very pleasant experience. Our afternoon tea, with Bellini, was a gift and we chose to use it in the city within One New Change. When we arrived we were greeted swiftly and then shown to our table, the waitress then explained what the tea would comprise. The venue itself is quite glitzy , as becomes a champagne bar...good quality glasses too. The Bellini was lovely, served in a tasteful champagne glass, a choice of flavours offered. Then the afternoon tea itself - a selection of sandwiches, followed by scones and cream and a selection of small cakes - served on tiered plates. We were offered tea or coffee when we were ready and offered refills. We were able to take our time. All in all, a very enjoyable experience. We would recommend it. Tip - take the lift up to the 6th floor for great views over St Pauls and area

Was very disappointed with the afternoon tea , we brought this from buyagift for our 1st wedding anniversary with a cruise along the Thames , the champagne bar was far away from the Tower Hill pier and had a bit of a walk to get to the bar, was really looking forward to the tea but only had 3 quarters of a sandwich each and looked like had come from a super market. Had to wait for tea to come after we had eaten , would of liked it with our sandwiches only got 1 cup too , would not go back !!! Jacky visited Searcys 1847 on 31 May 2016

Awful afternoon tea. What a disappointment, 3 tiny dry sandwiches, a single scone and two miniature choux buns, served at low tables with uncomfortable backless stools.....couldn't wait to leave. Wouldn't give it a single star, if that option available.

As a regular to One New Change, Searcys continues to perform. Love the cocktails and the staff are always extremely friendly. Although in the city the bar is still accessible and doesn't feel stuffy. See you soon!

Great Venue in One New Change, took a girl on a date here and was the perfect setting. Will be back hopefully on a second date! Good selection of cocktails and enjoyed the bubble hour offer.

Unfortunately we were disappointed with the afternoon tea selection. Would have liked more cakes and tea during the afternoon tea rather than after. Wasn't given the option of fruit or plain scones or of sandwich selection. Bealet visited Searcys 1847 on 23 Mar 2016

We were bought an Afternoon Tea at Searcys as a Christmas present and used it on Wednesday 23rd March. The service was good but Food and Afternoon Tea definately not Searceys expertise more like an add on. The was very little choice of sandwiches and were clearly bulk bought fillings and not freshly made. The bread was stale so I think that the sandwiches were made in advance aswell. The cake selection was poor consisting of a scone which was the highlight of the experience and a tiny bite size portion of either millionaires shortbread or a brownie. All in all not an experience i would be recommending sorry! Bockajr visited Searcys 1847 on 23 Mar 2016

Very welcoming host. food was very tasty, though could have done with 2 sandwiches and cakes of each type. Instead we had to cut everything in half so we could have a taste of everything. Cocktail and coffee were very nice. Have just read a previous review and they say exactly the same. Have had many afternoon teas and have never had to do this before. lannyg visited Searcys 1847 on 01 Mar 2016

We were given a Buyagift voucher for a Bellini Afternoon Tea for Christmas and used this on Friday. Our booking had gone missing (despite me having the confirmation email), so there wasn't a table for us, but our host, Rolf, was lovely and had us seated within a few minutes. The afternoon tea itself was fine - the bellinis were good, we found the choice to serve 6 x different, individual sandwiches a little odd (meaning you potentially had to fight for the best ones or cut them all in half), and similarly with the cakes there was 1 carrot cake, 1 chocolate cake and 2 macarons, meaning again you had to negotiate who got what or cut in half. However everything was very good - esp the macarons - and there was enough food. It was just a slightly odd way to serve it. When you go for afternoon tea, they offer additional glasses of champagne at a discounted rate (150ml for around £8 instead of £11) and we took them up on this offer. Rolf was lovely, but they were clearly a little understaffed - he did explain that they'd had a couple of very large groups arrive at once which had thrown them off. When we asked for the bill, he let us know that the champagne was on them by way of apology for losing the booking and the service not being quite up to scratch, and then sent over another couple of glasses of champagne - unnecessary but a lovely gesture. Even without all the free champagne I would have rated the afternoon tea well as it was very good value - the voucher value was around £15 per person, much lower than many competitor offerings - and the option to buy additional glasses at a lower price means it's really quite an affordable luxury. Not perfect, but we'll likely return at some point. jazzali visited Searcys 1847 on 26 Feb 2016

I booked an evening at Searcy's One New Change with a Groupon voucher for champagne tasting for my Mums birthday. We weren't greeted on arrival and service was rather slow. We eventually went up to the bar to be told to wait for table service. We eventually ordered a round of drinks while we waited for the 4th guest to arrive. We also ordered some nibbles - crisps and breadsticks with pesto and olive tapenade. The nibbles were far too expensive for what we got (£3 for crisps and around £4 for breadsticks). There were about 4 breadsticks and then a small bowl of the ends of a packet of crisps. When all of the guests had arrived we waited quite a while to be served with the champagne tasting. We were unenthusiastically told a little about each champagne and then given the food to accompany the champagne. When I bought this voucher I was under the impression that we would be getting some nice nibbles for four that would compliment the champagne. Instead we were given two tiny boards with some stale snacks. We had a few hard and unpleasant tasting pieces of cheese, around 3 small slices of Chorizo (which was also hard and lacked taste) as well as a couple of unripe strawberries. For the price that we paid, I was not happy with the experience at all - and that price was discounted through Groupon! It wasn't the evening we were hoping for at all. lrs28 visited Searcys 1847 on 25 Feb 2016

I booked an afternoon tea experience using a buyagift voucher for a friend and myself. On arrival, we were greeted by a sulky waiter who placed us on a table and rushed through what our experience would involve. Right from the offset, my friend and I both felt unwelcome. When our sandwiches arrived, I noticed that there there was only one sandwich which was vegetarian, even though when I made the booking I specified that I was a vegetarian and if they could provide more veg sandwiches. As the hour went on, my friend and I noticed that the waiting staff were asking how other patrons were doing, but not once did they ask how we were, in fact we had to flag one of the staff down and ask for our tea. I have been to quite a few afternoon teas, and I was expecting to experience the same sort of quality; unfortunately it was of an extremely poor standard. I would not recommend Searcys to any of my friends or colleagues going forward. priya102 visited Searcys 1847 on 26 Feb 2016

Went here on Friday with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday. I was given a buy a gift voucher for a bellini afternoon tea. The atmosphere was very relaxing, the sandwiches were very tasty and scones delicious. On top of that you get a very tasty bellini, with a flavour of your choice( i went for raspberry). The service was just amazing, the manager( i think his name was Ras) couldn't do more to make us feel very welcome and when he heard it was my birthday he offered to sign me up for Club Bubble( which is a must have if you want good deals on the house champagne- £35 a bottle from Sun-Wed) and also offered me a complimentary glass of the house champagne. What a treat, we will definitely be back

Extremely disappointed! Have visited many times for lunch, with excellent service but our last 2 visits have been disappointing (food remains good but service has changed). We had to wait 35 minutes for a cold open sandwich, which was rushed down as we only had 1 hour. On our former visits the 'Manager' who was present was extremely friendly, chatted with us and the service was good but this has all changed (he doesn't seem to be there anymore!!) and we are now unlikely to return. Shame as the food is good and the venue provides a great ambience. ytur0n visited Searcys 1847 on 05 Feb 2016

We was extremely disappointed. Wont be returning. Did not get much champagne to taste at all (probably a mouthful) I had less than the three of us to be fair. I wouldn't recommend booking this as a Groupon deal. On a plus the bar was lovely, staff friendly and welcoming etc. ..

The sommolier was really friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting is equivilant to one glass of champagne. The small snack plate for two is tiny. They should I Clyde another glass of champagne to enjoy after. I did the experience as a group on but even with the discount didn't think it was the nest value. Would certainly not pay full price. But I enjoy the venue, staff and ambience. gemmadubai11 visited Searcys 1847 on 22 Jan 2016

Lovely venue but groupon customers not given the same hospitality as regular customers. The glasses and volume of drinks given to coupon holders is significantly poorer. I would not go back to Searcys after such treatment. Searcys should not offer a coupon deal if they intend to treat customers differently for this.

I’ve had a voucher for a Bellini afternoon tea and went Saturday with my wife. It was a great experience and the cocktails were very good. The food was fresh as you would expect in a place like this and the staff is very nice and helpful. We've had the manager talking to us about different kind of champagnes which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Superbly located bar with welcoming, friendly bar staff. I've been there with my boyfriend on Saturday for the afternoon tea. Although it was really busy when we arrived we have been greeted at the door and the stuff was extremely friendly. Great Bellini and delicious sandwiches. I was nicely surprised to see the toilets were in immaculate condition, very clean despite how busy the bar was. Will definitely be back soon

We were bought this as a wedding present from my daughters and were very excited about going but that changed the moment we walked through the door no hello welcome just a "we have a large party booked and you will have to leave before your alloted time " no sorry can we offer you anything else as a sweetner in fact no customer service at all i can only agree with the other reviewers about the quality of the food served i have tasted better from tesco value i feel sorry for those who nought the gift because im sure that they expected like us so much more. The staff were watching us all the time to ensure we left as soon as possible so they could cater for their party .if you a business person and go here and think it is of high quality you surely are very deluded ianleadbetter visited Searcys 1847 on 04 Dec 2015

I bought this as a buyagift voucher for my husbands birthday and was sadly disappointed. I think I paid £25 so maybe I was expecting too much but we only got 6 triangle quarters of sandwiches between us - equating to 3/4 of a sandwich each, a scone each and 2 macaroons and 2 small squares of cake to share. We came at 4.30pm expecting to be there 2 hours but we were done within 45 minutes and being 8 months pregnant I was still starving. I was tempted to ask if we got anything else but as it seemed like a posh place I thought that would be rude. Also some of the bread was stale I'm guessing where the sandwiches had been sat out all day (each one was different so must have been made from a bigger sandwich). Also we were sat on an awkward corner seat so I had to be twisted and my husband was on a stool - not ideal or comfortable. I wish we had felt able to say something but when you come with a voucher to a elegant place you already feel the awkwardness. I'm worried as we bought a similar afternoon tea here for my parents but I will be advising them they can change their voucher for something else on the buyagift website. Certainly thought it was overpriced for the little food we received

We had a gift voucher for traditional afternoon tea, and we were disappointed. Considering the up-market image of the place, and the cost of the tea, it was quite underwhelming. The sandwiches were dry with poor fillings, the scones tasted like those from a motorway service station, and the minute pieces of chocolate cake were like a bought supermarket cake. The one star is for at least a decent cup of tea! I wouldn't go again. pgh77 visited Searcys 1847 on 17 Nov 2015

My husband was given a Bellini afternoon tea voucher and we thoroughly enjoyed our choice of Raspberry Bellinis and choice of teas. The sandwiches, scones and small cakes were very acceptable. What made this a thoroughly pleasant and relaxing experience was the charming and attentive staff. As we left we were recommended to go up to the 6 th floor to view the evening skyline level with St Paul's cupola.: a perfect end and a thoughtful touch by staff, as we were unfamiliar with the One New change location. starj visited Searcys 1847 on 05 Nov 2015

I received a gift certificate for afternoon tea for two at Searcy's as a birthday present. I would probably use the word underwhelmed to best describe the afternoon tea. We weren't given a choice of teas, there was less than a whole sandwich each and we were not given choice of the filling either. The bread felt slightly stale, the cake selection meant there was a small portion of cake each. The staff were very friendly and the bar itself was lovely. Wouldn't buy this gift for a friend though... Not sure how much it cost for the gift certificate but it was probably worth £5. hannah visited Searcys 1847 on 30 Oct 2015

We were given a voucher for a Billini Afternoon Tea for my husbands birthday and after reading reviews were worried! No need, the afternoon was lovely. The staff were very welcoming but not too in your face. The Bellini was delicious, the food was also very good especially the open sandwiches. My only criticism of the whole visit is the lack of toilet facilities - only one loo in the whole place! People were going literally one after the other and after waiting for what seemed ages my husband waited until we left and then went to public loo's elsewhere. frogemax visited Searcys 1847 on 13 Sep 2015

I was given a voucher for an Xmas gift to have afternoon tea. When we arrived we were not made to feel very welcome .. I was asked for my voucher, which was fine but as I had brought to other friends I was aware we would have to pay additional we didn't ask for cost but before we had even began we were told the price as if to say 'can you afford this' i felt embarrassed and very unwelcome. When the tea was brought over I was surprised by the platter as the sandwiches were so thin and not much filling as all. The bread was hard and stale and very tasteless, the scones were nice but only one each and the slither of cake was not worth the effort. The tea was nice but not served In what I would call tea cups. Over all this was a very poor show, I have been to many afternoon teas in London and outside and I would definitely not return or recommend this venue.

I took a friend for champagne afternoon tea on Saturday for her birthday. I was not impressed. The bread was hard as though it had been made earlier that day. There were only 3 small sandwiches, one of which we didn't like. The waitress never told us what was included beforehand, if she did we would have said we didn't like one of them. Also the thing that stunned me the most was that we were never brought any tea!!!!! Yip no tea!!!! We had cups for it but it never arrived. Yeah we should have asked but by that time we were bored and just wanted to leave. I gave my voucher to the waitress at the beginning and it seems that if you are on some sort of 'deal' they really aren't interested in you. Not once did anyone come and ask if everything was alright. Would never go back - worst afternoon 'tea' I have ever had.

We went for the champagne tasting (via livingsocial deals). Very good selection of champagne and the person who served us gave a good intro to us on each champagne. Only minus is the food pairing portion was slightly too small. The Searcys house champagne is something to return for (exceptional as a house Champagne).

Had a gift voucher for traditional afternoon tea for 2. Bar is nice and service ok but not very much in the way of food. 3 small pjeces of sandwich each probably amouting gk 3 slices of breat in total and thin fillings. Then 1 scone 1 mini macaroon and tiniest piece of chocolate cake ever. Tea nice and fresh pot brought when requested. Don't think very good value unfortunately.

I didn't even want to give a star. After a very nice service with organising the right day (I booked incorrectly) I was hopeful for a really good day. However, I was really disappointed. I booked this for my friends 30th and was really looking forward to it. The entire afternoon tea experience was really poor. When we arrived we were told they weren't ready for us.....strange as they were not busy and we had booked. WE went to the ladies whilst we were told they would sort a table. When we came back we were told they hadn't found a table. We finally sat at a dirty table they cleared around us. Bellini was nice, but watched her make it and would question its value. Sandwiches poor, dry and pathetic. Measly on the cake front - macaroons and chocolates. No service for further drinks. No tea or coffee until we asked where it was - finally got this at the end. Never asked if we wanted anything else, not asked if anything was okay. Place was empty and made out it was closed which made us rush for now reason. Really not made welcome. I wouldn't recommend this experience, this bar nor shall I go again. Very disappointed and not sure how they can charge what they do.

Interesting to receive an email to give a review. I was given a deluxe afternoon tea experience gift card for two. There were a number of venues to chose from. Unfortunately we made the wrong choice of venue for this experience. While booking I said we were non alcoholic and vegetarian. We were pointed to our table, next news an opened bottle of champagne arrived, so I explained we asked in writing for non-alcoholic drinks. We got that sorted after some awkwardness, then a 3 tiered plate arrives with sandwiches etc. unfortunately they hadn't referred to our written requirements of vegetarian sandwiches.....more awkwardness and the plate was taken away and brought back with, very disappointing food. Dry bread with thin slices of cucumber, dry bread with a terrible wedge of tasteless cheese, and a thin slice of tomato, more dry bread with brie cheese and a very thin slice of tomato. Now for the scone, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear......that is an experience in itself. The scone cannot be home baked, more like shop bought, it was served cold, no butter on offer, if someone would prefer a little butter rather than jam or cream. It was an unforgettable experience but sadly all for the wrong reasons. I guess a Champagne bar focuses on Champagne. My gift card was for a deluxe afternoon tea, I want the focus to be on the tea and the eats, especially the scones and sandwiches but that wasn't the case. I have done hotel work as a chef in the past and I am a very keen baker.......I would not have let this food go out into my dining room for a paying customer and I would not share this food with any of my guests. I could keep writing but not much point, I need to try and forget the whole experience.

A group of 15 of us went for afternoon tea. Considering we pre-booked the service was a little slow also the bill was double the price in error. On a positive note the staff were really pleasant and the food was tasty.

I bought a voucher for a champagne light lunch which we used on Saturday at One New Change. A most pleasant experience all round! Excellent service from the manager who was most welcoming and attentive. We were given extra bread and dips with our salads which were very tasty and plentiful; although not classic Ceasar salads, as there was neither parmesan, nor olives! But, plenty of salad and chicken! Champagne was lovely! We were not charged for our pot of tea and our coffee! We would return without the voucher, as it is a very comfortable bar and we enjoyed our visit very much. As it was part of my husband's birthday treats for the day, I was delighted that he really enjoyed it all. Thank you to the Manager on Saturday 23rd at lunchtime for making our visit so pleasant!

Lovely champagne, however the pot of tea was cold when it arrived. Coffee was bitter and strong. Cups were filled to the brim not allowing any space for milk to be added. Sandwiches were very dry, scarce filling, 3 bits of randomly chopped tomato and one small piece of mozzarella, not filling and not enjoyable. The cream and cucumber lacked cream and therefore it was only cucumber and 2 bits of dry bread. Scones were lovely. Macaroons and chocolates not really a selection of cakes as far as I am concerned. A disappointing afternoon, especially as it had been arranged to celebrate a friends' 50th birthday.

Disappointing afternoon tea unfortunately. After reading great reviews my friend bought me this for a birthday present. However, it was extremely underwhelming with very little filling in dry bread. I had to rip up the 10p size of mozzarella into even smaller bits to cover the bread. Only one scone each when in other teas you get two. 'A selection of cake' was 4 macaroons and 4 truffles which is not what I'd call a selection. Service was average as we felt they just wanted us to hurry up. Although the scones and macaroons tasted lovely, you can easily have a much better afternoon tea in many, many other places.

Enjoyed an Afternoon Tea as a birthday present. The waitresses were very attentive and helpful. Catered for special dietary requirements. Portions were small, but that did not spoil the occasion. A nice relaxing afternoon.

I had a voucher as a present for afternoon tea, really relaxing enjoyable afternoon, service was ok. However I would not have paid for this myself as I felt this was not value for money for food, I did expect more food, and felt that the portions were quite small ie three open sandwiches each, one scone each,

popped in for a quick drink, champagne was lovely, food was average and overpriced for what it was. I did ask for a special request for my partner for valentines and our anniversary but this never happened so was disappointed and left after 1 drink.

Tip Top again! Good food, well presented and efficient staff, lovely atmosphere and not too noisy....unlike some bars/venues. A favourite location of ours (3rd visit in 6 weeks). Well done Searcys.

A superb venue with great service and very friendly staff. This was our second visit to Searcys at One New Change during December and it didn't disappoint. We will definitely revisit on another day and would certainly recommend this bar for food, service, ambience and staff.

We had a wonderful Christmas Party at Searcy's One New Change. The atmosphere was perfect, great DJ and top class service! Delicious canapes and (as always) a fabulous Champagne list. Excellent events organisation - strongly recommend choosing this venue for your next party!

Lunchtime champagne and food dal was really good value and both parts were delicious. Only slight issue was that we were sat very close to the next group of people, but obviously at bust times this cannot be avoided. Already booked to come again.

We loved it! What a really nice place. The food was good and the staff very polite and friendly. I visited with 2 friends and, although busy, we found the venue to be sufficiently quiet to enable us to hear each other across the table. We will definitely visit again. Thank you!

This is the best place to go for a fancy evening out. Great for having some work drinks. The staff really look after you and the tapas style food is paired well with the champagnes.
