Presenting an orchestral rendition of Nas' groundbreaking Illmatic album...
There are few albums more important in the history of hip-hop than Nas' Illmatic. The radical 1994 debut album combined hard-hitting rhymes, with production from a selection of some of the biggest names in the game.
DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor and Q-Tip all joined with Nas himself in making the album, which was lauded by critics for its amalgamation of funk, jazz and vintage samples. The songs were praised for Nas’s lyricism and delivery, his stories of gang rivalries, drug violence and urban poverty captured the imaginations of fans all around the world.
This October, we invite some of London's top musicians, string players and vocalists to explore this incredible album with a unique orchestral rendition. Join us as we relive one of hip hop's most truly iconic albums.
*please note this is a tribute, Nas will not be performing
