You can find the Worship Street Whistling Shop close to Old Street, in the heart of Shoreditch. Infusing the charm of Victorian slums with the elegance of grand Gin palaces, this atmospheric bar, emporium and dram shop exhibits its own very unique approach to the art of creating cocktails.

Think of it as a fairground ride of cocktail inhibition and a charismatic experience of drinking in a new wave of speak easy bars in London. But there's more to the Whistling Shop that just great cocktails - the craft beers and sparkling wine packs a hefty punch of its own, and there's two private experience rooms and some delectable food that needs polishing off.

The venue offers up a fantastic Dram Shop for bookings of up to 8 people, where you get your own little shop to drink in and a cupboard packed full of bottles of cocktails for you to sample. You pay your tab at the end which is a refreshing approach to drinking in London and contributes to the charm of this unique East London venue. The Whistling Shop has revellers all over the capital talking, we'd heartily recommend heading over and checking out what the fuss is about for yourself.

Drinks were great & quirky, but unfortunately the service was not only very slow (was 40mins from arrival before I got my drink), but also drinks were forgotten at times by the staff. Shame, as a great venue. visited Worship Street Whistling Shop on 25 Oct 2016

We hired out Whistling Shop exclusively for a press event on 20th October, and were really delighted with the venue, and how helpful the staff were. There is scope to dress up the space as you wish (for instance we brought in our own lighting) and the managers were really flexible, opening the bar early so that we could set up. Fantastic cocktails, very creative and unique menu. visited Worship Street Whistling Shop on 20 Oct 2016

Lovely spot -don't go if you want the usual cocktails but if you want a nice bar, quirky drinks and off the beaten track and not too much chaos on a Saturday night then yeah visited Worship Street Whistling Shop on 15 Oct 2016

Not as good as it used to be. Cocktails were weird and the bartenders were not as knowledgable as the old ones. The best drink - the peanut butter and jam one - is no longer on the menu. Hailey visited Worship Street Whistling Shop on 11 Oct 2016

We had a very nice time, the atmosphere is really cool, the music as well. We were 3 and though 3 different cocktails. Mine was good, but we didn't really enjoy the 2 other. The cheese board is really good, and it was enought for 2 people. We will come again but more for the place and atmosphere than the cocktails Maureen visited Worship Street Whistling Shop on 07 Oct 2016

This little spot is just what the Dr ordered for after dinner drinks. They do an insanely good Old Fashioned and the atmosphere is really great. It's a bit like an old 1920s speak easy met a Hawaiian hula girl with a Caribbean rum runner and they got together... Really accommodating and friendly staff and will certainly be back. Really quirky and good quality. Plus the value is great too. Can't really fault it Andy visited Worship Street Whistling Shop on 05 Sep 2016

We were looked after really well at this fab bar. The cocktails had to be explained to us as they are weird and wonderful concoctions, but all really tasty. Gigglemugs went down especially well. All the staff were great, helpful and knowledgeable - even the girl that had just started ! Great atmosphere, would definitely recommend it to anyone. hubjo visited Worship Street Whistling Shop on 27 Feb 2016

The cocktails were decent and great atmosphere. The service was average - ordered a drink whilst waiting for my friend to arrive which never came, and thereafter had to go up to the bar to order more drinks as was ignored when trying to get attention. It was a busy Friday night though but I think when you need to book a table a week in advance you should get looked after better - with other cocktail bars in the area the staff give you advice and a bit of story behind their cocktails, which I think is part of the experience - didn't get any of that here except from the barman when I had to go up to order and because I asked. It really wasn't a great night out. We waited 15+ mins to have our order taken, eventually going over to bar to get somebody to serve us (there is no bar service btw so you just have to wait for somebody) . We than had to wait another 15+ mins for the drinks. It was not very busy either so the wait was confusing. The waitress then gave us a lot of attitude and when we expressed disdain at her attitude she would not stop standing there saying "sorry" over and over again - and all we wanted was our now 30 min overdue drinks. The bar itself is really nice looking BUT the ONE toilet was disgusting! Toilet paper on the floor, overflowing bin. Would we go back - absolutely NO. Would we recommend - not unless you want a very frustrating night! user visited Worship Street Whistling Shop on 02 Oct 2015

to be honest it wasn't great. waited 15 minutes to have our order taken (i had to get up and ask them eventually!). then 15 more for the drinks. wasn't busy. then forgot i'd ordered nuts later on. drinks were fine but not exceptional. nice place but disappointing service overall. themiller visited Worship Street Whistling Shop on 01 Oct 2015

This was a fantastic find for a date. Very cosy venue. The staff were accommodating and the bartender came over to our sofa and talked us through his recommendations to suit our tastes. The food was tasty as well. We'll definitely be visiting again!

I love this place! Great for date night and cosying up on a sofa with a refreshing cocktail. The bartenders could have been a little more experimental but all good.

Not sure I've ever experienced anything quite like this one. Dimly lit and atmospheric, there's a table service policy which is at odds with your typical Shoreditch vibe. It's good for a few cocktails but quite pricey!

Awful!! I've just spent £276 at this place (rip off!) but was refused a final drink on the grounds that one of the girls in my group had momentarily fallen asleep!! I explaned she'd just finished a 50 hour wèek (+ obviously had had a few drinks)! We were not causing any trouble or being loud, just a few friends enjoying the gins etc they had on offer . All the other guy in my group (2 guys, 3 women) & I wanted was a final beer for the road, (I wasn't asking for a drink for my female friends). Spoke to the manager & explained that at my age I didnt appreciate being spoken to like a child & told by someone probably more then half my age that I couldn't have a drink because one of my party had fallen asleep for a moment, espescially after I'd just spent £276! We will never go back to this place! Also beware of drink costs here, what we had would have cost half the price elsewhere!

Really nice place. Great atmosphere, perfect for a date with a good setting and a perfect noise level. Staff are friendly and the bar staff clearly love what they do. Downside is the cocktail menu; a few more classics would be useful. And it was a bit tough to get attention to order drinks. A few more substantial snacks would be great. I recommend it; my suggestions are only minor.

We had a good night at Worship Street Whistling shop. It's not quite up there with the likes of Nightjar - The cocktail list is fairly limited, but the staff were very helpful and were happy to go off menu and make other suggestions.

Had a great night, perfect noise level to give some atmosphere but I could still hear everyone else on my table of six. Great decor and the wine I had was delicious. I know they bill themselves as a 'cocktail bar' but I actually found the ones I had a little disappointing - too strange and not tasty enough. Would still go back though!

Great staff, very friendly and knowledgeable, I was a little suprised by the number of times we were asked "are you sure" it would seem they have had a little bit of problem with people not understanding the drinks :) Menu has changed and I still do not really like it, could we go back to the old menu please? Otherwise wonderful night!

I surprised my new beau by taking him here as he'd always wanted to go to a speakeasy! didn't fail to impress! Brilliant platters and drinks!! great service too; the waiter really seemed to know what he was talking about! The vibe was so relaxing and not too busy so that we could really soak it up! Great!!

Excellent night with brilliant staff! Very knowledgable and polite. It was a shame to have a time limit on how long you could stay, and bare in mind if you are in a big group to prepare a good plan to split the bill at the end of night. You'll enjoy yourself too much that it will rack up.

Attended a great party night out last weekend with around 25 others. The venue ambience, staff and selection available were fantastic! There are cheaper cocktails available elsewhere however these are worth the extra (£10-12 each). The cocktail menu was a little confusing with the stylish booklet and tear-off stubs (the previous more familiar A4 menu was easier to understand and also to read in the dim light). Will be back!

Bar, staff and drinks are all amazing. We went on the first Friday night in September and it was fairly quiet, which was a nice change for London. Prices are fairly standard for a cocktail bar in London, but everything we tried was delicious. My only gripe would be the gimmicky menu they hand out which resembles a raffle ticket book including perforated sections that encourages people to tear them out, which they have in some cases. Do yourself a favour and download the PDF menu from their website to your phone for convenience. If however, you don't manage to, the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their drinks, so don't be afraid to ask for recommendations.

We had a lovely evening. The staff were great, the music was brilliant and the drinks were delicious. The only thing I would change is that the prices of the sprits, gin, whiskey etc. was not on the menu. This was a bit off-putting and I ordered less for fear of what would appear on the bill.

Had the Champagne fizz thing, with the Absinth tablet, made the Champagne overflow and made it taste like sodium bicarbonate. Felt a little ill after that drink. The place was really nice, but there were a few rowdy tables which kept cheering and shouting which ruined the atmosphere.
31 Aug 2014 by d_armano

Really fun enviornment. A bit quiet but I think that's because it was the Thursday night before the Bank Holiday. I can not wait to go there again. Although the gin and three tonics were not for me.
26 Aug 2014 by jpayne85

Pretty impressive. A few different people had recommended this place. It's pretty quirky and well thought out. I'm not sure I'd go back, not because I didn't enjoy it, just because it's more about the 'experience' - but definitely worth heading to at least once. Pricey but the cocktails were gorgeous, as expected.

amazing little place. I say little, but once you've seen their restaurant /emporium area you will get a good grasp of how big this place actually is. Quirky menu, with the feel of a pharmacy. Very well preserved style, with a mixture of Victorian and Prohibition touches. Shame the book wall isn't real... A bit on the pricey side however beverages are of superb quality

Great staff, drinks, seating and clientele. Definitely worth booking in as the area for non reserved is always heaving. The cheese board was delicious and well worth a try if your'e feeling peckish.

Like it here, super cute, the crowd can be a bit too City but that's not surpassing considering the location. I'd deff come here for an after work quick one but couldn't afford to stay very long! love the barrels behind the bar.

Hard to find but worth it! Has a secretive vibe and nice cocktails as well as staff who know a good thing or two about drinks

I really like this place, so atmospheric, got the whole speakeasy thing going on but its also quite classy, we hired out the Dram shop which was great fun serving ourselves cocktails. This is a really cool bar and will certainly impress your guests.
