As part of The Gut Stuff's Old Street Takeover join Miguel Toribio- Mateas for a no-nonsense, sciencey-but-fun talk in plain English where he’ll focus on the communication between the gut and the brain give you practical tips to help you upgrade it from dial-up to fibre broadband bandwidth.
Miguel is a clinical neuroscientist and nutritionist with 10 years' clinical practice experience under his belt. He’s half way through his doctoral research degree at Middlesex Uni, focusing on how gut health influences the health of the rest of the body, a subject that Miguel has got deep technical knowledge of, but that he’s able to translate into take-home messages for non-sciency mortals.
Miguel also works as an innovation consultant at the London Agri-Food Innovation Clinic, a European Regional Development Fund project hosted by London South Bank University where he is involved in the design of clinical trials to assess the effects of fermented foods on cognitive health measures like memory and focus. For a taste of Miguel's colourful personality, follow him Instagram. His page is packed with gut-brain stuff with a fruity touch, that’s practical and fun: @miguelmateas.
