ABOUT JAY PHELPS
Trumpeter, Composer, DJ and Entrepreneur – Jay Phelps has performed with some of the world’s top names. With an instantly recognisable warm and projecting trumpet tone, Canadian born Phelps is a household name on the Jazz scene in the UK and his presence as a DJ is steadily growing.
Phelps’ career has spanned over 20 years and he’s always searching for new endeavours which of late have included radio presenting Jazz FM, Worldwide FM and his music casting agency ‘SoulEndvr’ working with Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, BBC.
2023 will see Phelps release his seventh album as a leader with Apple Music subsidiary label ‘Platoon’ and continue his Youtube documentary series ‘Ear to the Ground’ featuring artists from the Jazz scene both in the UK and beyond.

In his own words... “The Now takes the listener on a journey from the world renowned underground Jazz scene in London, straight over to Detroit for some floor stomping HoI co-founded Empirical, a band that helped to pave the way for the new Jazz scene in London, which is why I'm thrilled to have London's finest new talents join me here to add that special flavor. The relentless groove of Detroit House has been growing on me lately, so combining that with my Jazz background seems to create a funky concoction that tastes like a Jazz/House soup...Deliciously Nasty!”
