Another month, another Artist at Canvas Bar.

The month of May welcomes Yorkshire-native, Simon Fitzmaurice with his quirky hand-printed illustrations and silk screens. Simon's instantly recognisable hand has gained him clients and fans in Liberty London, The BBC and Interior Designer heavy hitters Farrow and Ball. With works inspired by his urban surroundings in London, Simon pieces take you on a journey through the world's greatest city whilst you sip on a Martini.

About Simon Fitzmaurice

Simon Fitzmaurice is a professional illustrator, artworker and editions printer who uses Print Club London studio as a hub for his work. Since moving to the city 5 years ago from his native county of Yorkshire, Simon has been crafting a career of producing hand-printed artwork and teaching screen-printing to other potential creative manufacturers. He studied at Graphic Design at Bath Spa University, where he discovered a passion for reproducing hand rendered imagery for print. Simon is currently working as a technician at Print Club London, and uses this opportunity to further his craft and to engage with the process on a daily basis. Simon has previously illustrated and/or printed formany clients from different industries, including Liberty London, BBC, Ditto Press, Fire Records, Farrow & Ball, The Premises Studios, Blackheath Conservatoire and many illustrators and collectives around London. His own work is inspired by architecture, urban environments and often unremarkable objects, that can conjure stories of human interaction, affiliation and empathy. His most popular pieces of work are themed on small adventures (usually by bike!), in form of screen-printed maps, routes or illustrated guides. Simon can normally be seen cycling all around the city with pens and sketchbooks immediately to hand.
