Bierschenke Bierkeller

Description

Since 2010, Bierschenke has been bringing the unique atmosphere of Munich and the Oktoberfest to London. Authenticity is at the heart of Bierschenke and their staff, dressed in traditional Lederhosen and Dirndls. All our draft beer is brewed in Bavaria and will be supplied by the iconic Paulaner Brewery and its associated breweries Hacker-Pschorr and Auerbräu.

The origins of Bierschenke came from our founder Gerry Hanratty who started the idea in a basement bar on the Strand but its success meant that it quickly outgrew that site. The Liverpool Street venue  was acquired in 2014 and was a huge success until our lease expired in 2022. The current site, in Covent Garden, was acquired in early 2023 and re-fitted throughout with bespoke fittings and furniture manufactured by craftsmen in Bavaria.

The spacious Bierkeller, has a capacity of 500 people and is designed so that they can create the perfect space for private parties of all sizes. They welcome more than 100,000 guests per year, many of whom come with friends to experience the excitement of the Oktoberfest, to enjoy the traditional German Christmas celebrations or simply to enjoy good beer, home cooked German food and the Gemütlichkeit that comes naturally from sharing long tables with friends, old and new, in true German fashion.

Saturday evenings at Bierschenke offer a taste of Oktoberfest. Great beer, schnapps and a party atmosphere with our Oompah band.

Respect for tradition and the cultural importance of good food and drink is the Bavarian way - and it is the Bierschenke way.
