Half Cut Market

Description

Tucked away on the York Way Riviera, Half Cut Market is a cosy, all-in-one spot that’s part restaurant, part wine bar, part bottle shop, and all charm. Inside, it’s got that effortlessly cool vibe: think white tiles, hanging pendant lights, leafy houseplants, and a fridge wall stacked with natural wines just waiting to be taken home. There’s a handful of tables and a counter with a view straight into the open kitchen, plus a sunny pavement terrace that’s perfect for people-watching with a glass in hand.

The food? It’s creative, seasonal, and cooked over charcoal on a Japanese Konro grill. Chef Jack Newton (formerly of Hen’s Teeth in Dublin) brings a playful, flavour-packed approach to the menu, which changes regularly depending on what’s fresh and exciting.

Co-owner and sommelier Holly Willcocks, also behind the wine list at Soho’s Mountain, curates a stellar selection of natural wines, with around 80 bottles available to sip in or take away. Founded by four friends with serious hospitality chops (think Noble Rot and 40FT Brewery), Half Cut Market has already earned a spot as one of the UK’s best wine bars.
