Join us 100ft above London for a truly unique evening of live music within the beautiful setting of The Roof Gardens. To launch the new season, we are delighted to welcome internationally renowned artist and British Soul legend, Mica Paris.
Mica Paris is one of the UK’s finest and most respected female singers with a career full of Top 10 hit singles and albums. The range, power, and sheer soulfulness of Mica Paris’ singing made an immediate impact on the UK music scene in 1988 when she released her debut, the platinum-selling So Good from which she had her first top 10 hit ‘You Are My One Temptation’.
More worldwide hit albums and singles followed including Black Angel, Stay and Carefree together with collaborations with respected artists such as David Gilmour, Prince, Jimmy Barnes, Jools Holland, James Morrison and more, before Mica turned her many talents to London’s West End stage. An incredible live performer, Mica stole the show at the Royal Albert Hall’s glittering Dusty Springfield celebration in May 2011 and has also extended her talents into broadcasting, presenting The Gospel of Gospel, a TV documentary tracing the influence of gospel on American popular music.
Shola Ama is certainly no newcomer to the UK music industry. Her debut album Much Love entered the UK charts at #6 selling over one million copies and scoring Shola the Top 5 singles ‘You Might Need Somebody’ and ‘You’re The One I Love’ to name a few. The culmination of her critical and commercial success resulted in four Mobo nominations with Shola going on to collect two awards in the form of Best Newcomer and Best R&B act.
Shola has toured extensively across the UK and was a special guest to a whole host of artists (Fugees, 3T, Jamiraquai). She also headlined the 98 Rhythm Nation Tour feat Glamma Kid, D-Influence and Rashan Patterson. Furthermore, Shola was nominated for two Brit Awards and went on to pick up the gong for Best British Female, the crowning achievement for an incredible journey.
Described as a “one-woman powerhouse'” by Radio 1's Annie Mac, FEMME is the real deal when it comes to unadulterated artistry. As composer, producer, director and choreographer, FEMME has eschewed major label interest in order to maintain her musical vision without interference. This uncompromising approach hasn't stopped her mixing with the great and the good: FEMME has toured the USA with Charli XCX, featured on tracks by Huxley, been remixed by NZCA Lines and partnered with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich for their critically acclaimed Ultraísta collaboration and album.
