Formed in 2015, BURNZ is a musical project made up of Joseph Bernie, Gabrielle King, Bradley Hutchings and James Phillips. Together they blend reverb drenched 80’s-style pop with contemporary soul and folk, giving way for an expressive, captivating and upbeat experience. Sitting comfortably between Prince and Fleetwood Mac there is a positive energy to the group's live performance, one of musicians coming together over a labour of love. Whether it be a solo set performed by Joseph or expanding to a duo, trio or the full quartet, BURNZ are an adaptable act playing to the space, yet always maintaining their eclectic, pensive vibe that has drawn many new people to their monthly North London residency at Spiritual Caipirinha Bar in Camden.

With the help of Spirituals owner Rafael Pesce, the band have been allowed to hone their sound over the past year, rehearsing in the bar and recording various live sessions, which led to appearances over the summer at Bestival, Standon Calling and Farr Festival. The band are currently in the process of writing and recording, producing material for their first release.

Tomi Saario

Tomi is a 22-year-old guitarist and singer-songwriter from Finland. The spark for music was set way back at the age of 5, when treasure hunting in his grandparents’ basement ended up at his father’s old guitar with only two strings left. Ever since, little by little, music became more and more essential in his life. Back home in snowy and dark north the possibilities for breaking on desired scale were not quite that ideal, so after doing his military service it was finally the right time to take a plane to London. Now Tomi has been living and playing his music in London for almost a year.

Alex Gibson

Every so often, over the dim roar of background noise, through the clutter of sound, a single sound rises above it all. Having honed his skills busking in the streets of Sydney, Alex Gibson has such a sound. Compared to City & Colour's Dallas Green, he has a sound that is at once sweet and sultry, and absolutely heartfelt. Inspired by artists like Paul Simon, The Beatles, and Stevie Wonder, his music is extremely melodic, soulful and energetic. In 2011, he went into the studio and recorded a live album with his band. After cutting his teeth opening for artists like The Black Sorrows and Mental As Anything, as well as playing countless shows of his own at events like Vivid and Market By Moonlight, or venues like The Brass Monkey and Lizotte's, he launched the album to acclaim at The Basement in August 2012.

Nick Kingswell

From riding the waves off the island where he grew up south of Melbourne as a child, to riding the tour circuit as a guitarist for multiple Australian musicians, Nick Kingswell, has landed in London, ready to ride into the hearts of Britons.
