Feast your ears on our first ever live music brunch, featuring our brand new Indian breakfast menu, bottomless masala chai, mimosas and some of London's most scintillating global talent.
FOOD
With favoured morning street snacks from Mumbai, fondly remembered sustenance had in the foothills of the Himalayas, along with spicy masala scrambled eggs; this is far from your average brunch. The London Jukebox cut no corners when it comes to delivering high quality, authentic and delicious Indian cuisine.
MUSIC
For our first weekend we are joined by The Sages (⽵林七贤).
The Sages (竹竹林林七贤) is a new world music fusion band project based in London that draws inspirations from different music elements throughout time and history. With the main focus on traditional East Asian music, the band mainly consists of young students currently studying at SOAS, University of London, as well as members of the SOAS Chinese Silk and Bamboo Ensemble. As a diverse cosmopolitan generation growing up under an age of globalisation and other social changes, the band aims to explore the concepts between “East” and “West”, cultural identity and musical “genres” through both original composition and adaption of traditional folk music. Since the formation of the band in November 2017, The Sages has played at numerous venues and events such as the Oxford 2018 Chinese New Year Gala, Rich Mix main stage, Sounds of the World concert series in Greenwich & Lewisham Young People's Theatre, The Curious Arts Festival 2018 in Southampton, SOAS Graduation 2018, The Golden Hinde, and were recently featured on an episode of BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’ presented by Katie Derham as well as ‘A World in London’ with DJ Ritu.
The name of the band project is called The Sages (竹竹林林七贤), which is a reference to The Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grooves of ancient China. They are group of 7 literati, artists, musicians, poets, and scholars who despite their admirable status and fame, chose to escape mundane and hypocritical secular life to live in the remote natural countryside with the companionship of music, poetry, art (and wine) in search of a higher spiritual fulfilment. In a world of consumerism, materialism and capitalism, it’s hard to feel 100% satisfied, happy or stress-free in our everyday lives, therefore I hope to channel the ancient Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grooves, to use music, which itself is something so beautiful, pure, and touching, to achieve an-inner spiritual connection with something larger than life.
