The De Hoop is looking pretty good for its age. At 114 the Dutch Tjalk has lived more than a little and through the efforts of three childhood friends it’s been given a new lease of life entirely. Sailed from Amsterdam to Hackney Wick, the vessel now stands moored at Sweetwater, next to the Queen Elizabeth…
Boasting an unparalleled location at the junction of two of London’s waterways, Barge East - a new bar & kitchen based aboard a historic Dutch barge has opened in Hackney Wick at the edge of the beautiful & vibrant Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The striking, historic 118 year old barge, has been breathtakingly transformed from its former life as a cargo barge in Holland into a truly stunning bar & restaurant.
The British fusion menu introduces global flavours which Head Chef Ryan Craig has developed from his extensive time cooking aboard some of the world’s most luxurious private yachts. The kitchen also boasts the Big Green egg, indoor ceramic barbeque, giving a rich, smoked flavour to the food.
