TOM CAWLEY featuring FREDDIE GAVITA
8:00PM A former “Young Jazz Musician of the Year” pianist Tom Cawley has gone on to establish himself as one of the country’s leading jazz musicians. He has played at the Blue Note Club in New York, Ronnie Scott’s in London, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room and appeared at festivals worldwide. His mature playing and fluent technique have made him the pianist of choice for many players, including Charlie Watts, Tim Garland, Dave O’Higgins, singer Gwyneth Herbert and saxophonist Pete Wareham’s award-winning “Acoustic Ladyland”. His trio, “Curios”, has garnered a string of Awards and plaudits, “spellbinding” Independent, “dazzling” Jazz UK, “pioneering” Musician magazine, was the first band to be asked to perform at the newly refurbished Royal Festival Hall, appeared on the “Culture Show”, made numerous live Radio 3 broadcasts and were featured on the covers of both Jazz UK and Jazzwise. Tonight Tom will be appearing with his quartet featuring the multi-award winning rising trumpet star Freddie Gavita. A world class band and an absolute must see. “Cawley…excellent, fluid, pianist with a deft touch  and a superb improviser’s imagination.” Time; “Gavita....a talented trumpet prodigy" Guardian.

David Gordon
9:45PM
An assured and versatile pianist Dave is one of the few professional jazz musicians who is equally sought after in the classical field. An accomplished harpsichordist as well as pianist, Dave includes work with the likes of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and has toured Europe and South America with the European Baroque Orchestra. An award-winning jazz and classical composer, he has had works performed on BBC Radio 3 as well as performances at the Cheltenham Festival and QEH. As a Jazz pianist he has led his own trio since 1995, currently featuring Paul Cavaciuti on drums and Jonty Fisher on bass, with a repertoire that focuses on original material by the band, but also includes items as diverse as folk music from Venezuela, East European dance music and Celtic-tinged melodies. With 4 CDs to their name the trio has had success worldwide, including impressive sales in Denmark and Japan. A thoughtful and inventive gig.
“..a richly gifted player with a sparkling style and boundless imagination!” Independent on Sunday;
