Northbank Restaurant - London Bar Review

Indulge all your senses at The Northbank restaurant and bar on St Pauls Walk, where you will discover a fine drinking and dining experience combining the pleasures of sight, taste, touch, smell and sound. This is truly an unforgettable venue you’ll want to visit time and time again.

The Venue

Nestled in a quiet spot on the Thames with fantastic views of the Millennium Bridge, on arrival I was charmed by the Northbank’s prestigious setting, but more so by how aptly the venue itself lived up to such a location. Walking through the door, I was greeted with a lavish display of chic, romantic décor and contemporary design.

Contemporary and classic all in one at Northbank

To the left the bar is a sleek centrepiece, complemented by black leather stools and chairs, and dramatic, contrasting decorative features. To the right the dining area awaits, where you’ll find a mix of cosy booths and a collection of tables and chairs, each placed accordingly to allow comfortable privacy. By far the most stunning feature of The Northbank – and there is many to choose from – is the floor to ceiling windows that bring the stunning river views to your table.

The Ambience

Cool and sophisticated, The Northbank oozes a classy and refined vibe, yet it too excels in intimacy and comfort; enhanced significantly by the friendly and spirited staff and peaceful setting. Despite my initial reservations the venue was ‘too posh’, I felt at ease immediately and as if the hustle and bustle of London’s busy streets were miles away rather than just outside!

The Drinks

With a varied selection of wines, cocktails, beers, lagers, spirits, coffees and more, The Northbank is a hub of drinking sophistication. The cocktails are particularly impressive, with varieties to suit all tastes and preferences. As for the wine, every day the menu features a different bottle to complement the specials of the day, and your glasses will be refilled frequently by your waiter/waitress. Better yet, drinks prices are delightfully reasonable.

The Food

The Northbank’s dining experience is by far one of the best I have ever experienced. The food is exquisite, prepared with exceptional detail and care. Head Chef Jason Marchant knows his craft, and takes a traditional dish and transforms it into well thought out process bursting full of creative flavours. I tried Gnocchi for the first time – and it won’t be the last – and tasted the most delicious Hot Fudge Sundae; with compliments passed on to the chef.
