Big Easy Bar And Restaurant, Chelsea

Décor and Vibe

As we made our entrance the notes of "Sweet Home Alabama" transport you magically to a simpler place and time, a deep southern American crabshack on the Gulf Coast. From the rustic décor to the nightly live music, Big Easy is the perfect place to kick back, have a great home-style meal and relax. This place is famous for its Lobsters, Ribs and wonderful margaritas. With a brilliant Chelsea location, it€™s no surprise that Big Easy restaurant is packed to the gills with punters, princes and celebs, all chowing down on unbeatable food and great meal deals. The interior decor has a good fit too with typical dinner appearance, with dark wood panelling, and walls almost completely covered by customers€™ business cards. Chequered table cloths, old ads here and there and brightly-coloured memorabilia adorning the walls give a warm homey feeling to this busy Chelsea bar and restaurant.

Clientele and atmosphere

Big Easy attires a mixed crowd of customers: partying crowds, families & tourists, bankers, American bikers and posh types, all here to enjoy amazing food, listen to live music and relax after a hard day of work. This make the atmosphere quite loud and bustling but it's a really fun place to be, even if the restaurant is quite small for the number of covers it holds and can get very noisy, making it almost impossible to communicate with each other - and the staff. Downstairs it€™s a bit stuffy but it is where you can enjoy live music every night of the week.

Food and Drink

Steaks, Lobsters and Margaritas dominates the menu of this Chelsea Bar and Restaurant. Vegetarians might struggle a little bit but meat lovers will find a food haven here. As soon as you enter the Big Easy, a friendly member of staff welcomes you to your table with an enormous bib, they say it is compulsory to avoid staining your clothes! I went there on a Tuesday night and I had fried stuffed jalapeno peppers as appetizer and a Lobster Festival as main. The Lobster Festival is one of many €œall you can eat-style offers€ they have throughout the week. For £14.95 you get a Nova Scotia Lobster, served steamed with fries, house salad plus a Jose Cuervo Gold frozen Margarita or ice cold beer. That€™s really a good value offer if you consider you are on King€™s Road! I had a Mango Margarita for my cocktail and a Lobster with hollandaise sauce.  They provide you all the tools to enjoy your meal in full, but it goes without saying that eating Lobsters is messy! Lobsters come to the table with a special Lobster fork and a nutcracker, to help you crack them. The only problem is the tables€™ size in comparison to platters€¦you can hardly move, but at least there was enough space for a candle! Our desserts: a cheesecake and a pecan pie served with vanilla ice cream. Desserts are nothing memorable, so don't worry too much about saving room for these. The food is prepared well and comes in massive portions so you won€™t leave hungry.

Drink

At the Big Easy they have great cocktails and an award winning wine list, as awarded by the U.S leading wine lovers publication The Wine Spectator. Their Bar is open for the happy hour with drinks and cocktails on Mondays till closure and Tuesdays to Fridays from 4.00 pm to 7.30 pm. For their special daily food offers, use their site as guidance, because they vary from time to time.

The Big Easy is also a really good place for your Birthday party, because they can get tables of any size and easily cater for any special needs with prior arrangement. Moreover, children are welcome, with a special dedicated menu.

Summary

The Big Easy is a fun place for a night out, for the uniqueness of its true blue American atmosphere and in the quality of the food. If you are up to huge portions, a laid back setting and terrific cocktails to wash it all down, the Big Easy is the obvious choice in London.
