Gamay grapes may be thin-skinned and acidic, but when crushed they produce light-bodied, characterful wines which will charm your socks off. Beaujolais, south of Burgundy, has a warmer climate, so brace yourself for riper flavours.

The Perrachon family have been making wine on the La Bottière Estate since 1877, so they’ve had alot of practice at making bloody brilliant Beaujolais. Laurent, whose name adorns each of the bottles we’ll be sharing with you over the course of the 45-minutes, was more of a rugby player than a vintner as a young man. Luckily for us he hung up his boots and grabbed his tasting glasses, travelling the world, sipping and learning every step of the way.

Hand-harvesting the grapes, and pledging to eliminate all chemical products from the vineyards within the next fifteen years marks a return to the winemaking of his ancestors, but the resulting bottles are startlingly modern and fresh.

Domaine Laurent Perrachon et Fils Fleurie Vieilles Vignes, Beaujolais, France

Fashionably fresh, fabulously fruity and full of feminine flair. F-enomenal.

Domaine Laurent Perrachon et Fils, Roche Bleue, Juliénas, Beaujolais, France

Eye catching intensity combined with red fruit - this is one to get the blood flowing.

Domaine Laurent Perrachon et Fils, Corcelette, Morgon, Beaujolais, France

Rugged yet refined, rich yet smooth. Get in line, ladies!

Domaine Laurent Perrachon et Fils "Les Burdelines", Moulin à Vent, 2015, Beaujolais, France

Aged in new oak and reminiscent of a Burgundian Pinot Noir - this is Laurent really showing off his winemaking prowess.

For a £10 entry fee (which you’ll get back as a voucher!) you’ll be able to try all four and you’ll have the opportunity to buy your favourite bottles afterwards - but book now, because tickets go fast.
