Following a short hiatus after completing tours with Lana Del Ray, KT Tunstall and Birdy, plus a solo sold out UK tour; 24-year-old, London based Billy Lockett releases a striking first single ‘Wide Eyed’ from his forthcoming debut album.
Garnering support from BBC Introducing, Radio 1, 1Xtra and 6 Music, as well as Huw’s Stephens ‘Tip of the Week’ and topping Huw’s ‘Hot List”, Billy has seen overwhelming support from Clash, Hilly Dilly, Notion and Disorder Magazine to name a few.
'Wide Eyed’ follows on from Billy’s self-released EP ‘Burn It Down’ earlier this year which amassed over 500,000 streams, and which was preceded by a spot on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing playlist after huge support locally from BBC Introducing Northampton; Billy’s hometown.
On the first single from the album Billy says that “Wide Eyed is the last song I wrote for the album. It's a song that is about putting the past behind you and trying to move on, knowing that you'll end up back where you started."
Inspired by love and loss, Billy’s new album material is heart wrenchingly honest and wise beyond its years. The influences of American indie folk band Bon Iver and London based alt-pop duo Oh Wonder can be heard in Billy’s songs, but it’s the Italian pianist and composer, Ludovico Einaudi, who motivated him to develop his piano style.
In June, Billy wrote the soundtrack and performed live for fashion designer Joshua Kane’s official runway show, ‘Langtry’, in London. His track, 'Burn It Down' is the theme tune to the film directed by Kane featuring his bespoke clothing. Billy says ‘Josh loved the music and asked me to play his catwalk show for his new clothing line, which was a huge opportunity for me. We hit it off straight away’.
Billy is set to debut his album material in the coming months, an experience not to be missed by those who have long awaited his return and those only just finding out about him.

The ticket holder voluntarily agrees that the management, venue, event participants, DesignMyNight (WFL Media Ltd) and all of their respective agents, officers, directors, owners and employers are expressly released by the ticket holder from any claims arising from such causes.
2. Tickets are issued subject to the rules and regulations of the venue.
3. Please check your tickets, as mistakes cannot always be rectified.
4. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
10. The venue may operate a No Smoking Policy.
11. The promoter, venue management and DesignMyNight accept no responsibility for any personal property.
