A new project from the sometime guitarist with bands such as Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra, Lokkhi Terra, Cubafrobeat and Soothsayers, who is also known for work with iconic artists like Hugh Masekela, Tony Allen, Mulatu Astatke, Khaled and Osibisa.
The band features Matheus Nova (bass; Antonio Forcione, Ed Motta, Saravah Soul, Jazzinho); Marius Rodrigues (drums; Oriole, Luna Cohen, Adriana Vasques, Monica Vasconcelos etc).
The band is a quintet but sometimes works as a 4 or a 3 with subtle differences in musical emphasis.
The band also features the amazing Maurizio Ravalico (percussion; Collocutor, Dele Sosimi, Jamiroquai, Afroshock etc) and Rowland Sutherland (flutes; Airto Moreira, David Murray, plus many ensembles of his own). Rowland’s flute textures and lines together with Maurizio’s self-designed sonic universe and openness to free exploration push the quintet to more spontaneous musical territory peppered with true roots grooves – ‘Agharta’ meets Ebo Taylor meets Spontaneous Music Ensemble.
