Spanish Wine Tasting

Spanish winemaking philosophy used to be all about elaborar (to elaborate) rather than fabricar (to make). The Spanish saw themselves as caretakers of their farms, nurturing the grapes and letting the climate, soil and fruit do the talking.

This philosophy once meant that Spanish wines were often labelled rustic or unsophisticated. But by the turn of the century winemakers had embraced new technology and new techniques, leading to inventive blends, new styles, a myriad of grape varieties; Spanish wine is about more than just the weather.
