Trade in your amateur BBQ attempts for some top-notch wood-fired meat at Berrington's. Located on Smithdown Place, the colourful restaurant and bar is the latest reincarnation from the team behind Neon Jamon, the building's previous tenant.

On the menu, you'll find a selection of high-quality steak, meat and seafood. Each dish is grilled using a special dry oak wood to enhance its flavour whilst adding a little smokiness. Oh yeah, these guys know their stuff. They also offer vegan alternatives, including chargrilled watermelon with tofu and a seitan steak, as well as a mighty weekend brunch - think Cornish crab Benedict and scrambled eggs with fresh truffle.

As for drinks, Berrington's are pouring up a catalogue of fine wines, handily separated into various flavour profiles - great for those of us whose vino knowledge ends at red or white. They also stock global beers and shake up a range of signature cocktails. Even classic concoctions have been given a twist, with espresso martinis created using pecan-infused vodka, chocolate, espresso and burnt caramel.
