The History Of Strawberry Hill House
Built in 1747, the Grade I listed building was created by Horace Walpole (an English politician, writer and historian) and was influenced by Gothic cathedrals around Europe. The castle drew in the masses when it was first built, which encouraged Walpole to conduct tours of his home for the world to see - it was even visited by royalty.
It was then bought by Yale in the 1800s, where many of the artefacts from the house now live. But if you're not wanting to book an overpriced plane ticket to the United States, then a trip to Strawberry Hill House will definitely satisfy your history nerd needs.
Five acres of land surround the property and have been kept in incredible condition to this day. The land is full of flowers, foliage and winding paths that lead down to the River Thames.
