Waxy’s are back for their infamous Rock Lock-In, and tickets are still just £10 like they were 8 years ago. Come for a wild knees-up that doesn’t cost the earth; there will be 2 rock DJs to keep you dancing all night, and your ticket includes a free drink upon arrival and a complimentary late-night buffet to boot. It wouldn’t be a Waxy’s Lock-In without an air guitar competition, where the winner will land a Jack Daniel’s Epiphone Guitar!
Serving up £3 Strawberry Mojitos as part of a whole array of other boozy delights, Hillhead is our favourite type of Bookclub. Expect a raucous party atmosphere from the DMN public’s ‘Best All-in-One venue’, as they stage a budget-friendly Hogmanay event featuring retro computer games, ping pong and a buzzing party playlist ‘til late.
If you want a good-quality, fun-loving cocktail bar in Glasgow city centre that doesn’t break the bank, you want Revolution. You’ll find them racking up the shot sticks and pouring out those bottles of bubbly this Hogmanay, with an unrivalled selection of vodka cocktails to see you right. Check out their table and drinks packages that you can book in advance if you’re after the VIP treatment this year.
With pocket friendly prices and an atmosphere that is easy-going at its core, go for McChuill’s if you’d prefer New Year’s Eve to feature live music, an international array of beer and a friendly ambience. A venue with a loyal clientele, come and get in amongst it on the High Street at this traditional boozer and gig space.
Renowned throughout Glasgow for their breathless, unashamedly raucous house parties in a secret flat on Bath Street, you can count on Flat 0/1 to deliver the goods when it comes to Hogmanay. A place where “council tax letters become paper aeroplanes and eviction letters are turned into roach”, come for cheap drinks and killer DJ sets at one of the hottest house parties of the year.
Now, we’re speculating here, but we reckon The Garage would stay open all day and throw a party every minute if they were allowed. There’s certainly no holding back at 490 Sauchiehall Street, where raucous club nights are held every night of the week encompassing everything from foam parties to DJ sets from world-famous names. Expect to find a student-focused clientele out in force to take advantage of the cheap booze and vibrant atmosphere come NYE.
It’s because of venues like Nice ‘n’ Sleazy that Glasgow is considered one of the greatest cities to go clubbing on a budget. Throughout the year, many club nights are £3 (free for students) and you can expect to find their basement space absolutely rammo with the usual carefree hedonists come Hogmanay. Come for top DJ sets and a sweaty, all-night rave; this is a great place to set the standard for the rest of 2017.
Found just a few strides from Glasgow Central, don’t let anyone tell you it’s impossible to have a great Hogmanay in the city centre without spending big. The Slug & Lettuce is cool and contemporary, with a good social atmosphere and resident DJs that specialise in playlists comprised of “soulful disco tunes”. With purse-friendly cocktails and wines to help you get nice and merry, this is a sure-fired way to enjoy a cheap Hogmanay night out in Glasgow.
