Have you ever strolled around the city and thought: ‘I need somewhere to escape it all’? Well, The Gardener one of the most calming, laid-back bars in the city, might just be that place. As you’ve probably guessed from the name, the interior is awash with greenery, from hanging plants over modern paintings to climbing foliage sitting beside their simple furnishings and sofas. There’s a muted, calming colour scheme too, and being lit by fairy lights and hanging bulbs in cute translucent shades means you’ve basically got your #lazysunday Instagram photos sorted.

But you won’t just find greenery in the interior – the cocktails are botanical too. Though they aren’t just botanical, they’re also seasonal, with the menu changing with the availability of the ingredients to create fresh-sounding mixes like Garden Beets, made from Blackwoods botanical vodka, beetroot shrub, grapefruit, and rosemary tonic. If you’re feeling a bit peckish, they also offer small bites and plates, with breakfast serving up rolls, waffles and grilled breakfast sandwiches and, later on, delivering steamed buns and flatbreads.
