While the North Sea is fairly inhospitable to humans, it’s a veritable paradise for sea creatures. As a result, the langoustines, hand-dived scallops, prawns, crab, mussels, lobsters and fish caught in its waters are juicy and filled with flavour.

Many a catch ends up overseas, however, plenty of Edinburgh seafood restaurants take advantage of this incredible bounty, working with suppliers to ensure that the freshest and most sustainable ingredients are used in their dishes. The original Fishers, nestled on the historic shore in Leith, is set in a 17th century watchtower and is still winning awards 20 years after it first opened. This place offers two beautiful dining areas, the round room and bar or the restaurant, as well as outside dining in the summer months. All dining spaces offer a great atmosphere and fabulous seafood.
