Pembrokeshire-born MasterChef star Tom Simmons has set his sights on Cardiff for his second French-inspired restaurant.

Shooting to fame in 2011 when he reached the final stages of MasterChef: The Professionals aged just 21, Simmons went on to receive much acclaim for his luxury eatery in Tower Bridge. But now he has decided that it’s time to return to his homeland - taking over the Pontcanna venue that was previously Cameo Club.

Following the same winning formula as his London restaurant, this new spot, eponymously named Thomas, will serve a selection of French and British dishes, with top-quality Welsh produce at their heart. While some of the menu will replicate its sister venue, there will also be a selection of new plates created specifically for the Cardiff eatery. And on the weekend? Expect a more-relaxed brunch offering, with hearty roasts stealing the show on Sunday afternoons.

Hoping to recreate the private member feel of Cameo, Thomas will have an exclusive, yet relaxed atmosphere, with a speakeasy-style bar on the second floor, serving up bespoke cocktails and Welsh ales.
