Inspired by owner Stephen Curtis' New Zealand childhood and travels around the world, new restaurant Otira and its neighbouring sister venture, tapas bar Chandos Social @ Otira, is the epitome of globally-inspired cuisine with a twist. While no menu has surfaced yet, in Otira the food is said to be not quite British and not quite European, but inspired by the many countries that Stephen has visited. The tapas bar too takes international influence, serving Argentian-inspired small plates alongside beers and wines from Argentina, New Zealand, and of course there'll be a selection of local craft ales as well.
What we say:
New restaurant and tapas bar Otira is certainly doing its bit to break the mould. Spread across two shop fronts in Redland, the venue is split into venue (Otira) and neighbouring tapas bar (Chandos Social). In the restaurant dishes will not be priced individually in the traditional manner, but rather customers will pay a flat rate for a choice of two, three or four dishes. Props go to owners Stephen and Kathryn Curtis for putting an interesting spin on the classic restaurant format.
