A New Seafront Spot Is Bringing A Splash Of Mediterranean Sunshine To The Lanes

Med Brighton

Now Open

While your holiday to Spain may be very much on hold right now, this new Brighton restaurant is promising a sun-filled escape from the everyday without the mandatory quarantine. Med, located in the heart of The Lanes, is the latest venture from Will Dennard and Jack Southan, serving up Spanish-inspired small plates and summertime spritzes.

Taking over the space that was formerly Chaula’s, this contemporary venue is decked out with comfy leather benches, light-reflecting mirrors and plenty of greenery. The menu is made up of classic tapas dishes such as crispy patatas bravas, creamy burrata and grilled squid, along with some more surprising plates - think Egyptian-style hummus and vino verde soaked clams.

Will and Jack have already wooed hungry Brightonians with their street food brand Wolfsmouth and the fine dining spot Paradiso Social, and while this new project has had a few bumps along the way (the pair were due to pick up their new keys on the day lockdown was announced), it’s an exciting next step for the dynamic duo. To ensure customers' safety, social distancing measures have been implemented throughout - with a max table size of six.

It’s not exactly the Costa Brava, but with Brighton’s sparkling shoreline just a stone’s throw away? It may as well be.
