The Cowley Club

Description

A hub of social and cultural happenings on London Road, The Cowley Club has all sorts of tricks up its sleeves. More than a little rough and ready, this multi-purpose spot houses a vegan cafe, a radical bookshop and library by day, only to become a bar and raucous gig space come nightfall.

The Cowley Club is collectively owned and run by those involved in grassroots movements striving for social change; the bar, cafe and venue are maintained by volunteers, with a view to create a genuinely alternative space for those who seek something different from the run of the mill venues that we are used to. As far as the liquid fare is concerned, this honest bar in Brighton delivers Freedom Stout, Freedom Pilsner and Kaltenberg Hell lager on tap, alongside boxes and bottles of Westons cider and perry.

Membership to this unique social, cultural and party space will set you back a mere £1, allowing access to the plethora of free events that take place across the day and night. Utterly charming and with a strong ethos behind its very being, The Cowley Club is a refreshing alternative to bar culture as we have come to know it.
