The Revelator

Description

The Revelator is one of Brighton’s newest bars, and while it says grace it very much doesn’t give a damn. With nods to the religious iconography that even the toughest, trucker-filled Southern bars embrace, it’s a place with sinning very much on its mind. American craft beers and whiskeys flow freely, and the Southern-flavoured food is very much based around the meat that Americans love, topped with some of the best BBQ sauce that Brighton has ever offered.

Even just walking past – and you won’t be just walking past very often once you’ve been inside – shows this is very different to anything the (Hove) border has seen before. The ground floor is clad in reclaimed wood giving a hint to the authentic, earthy feeling inside. This raw, unpolished vibe carries on inside, as the unvarnished wood dominates the place – from the ceilings with their slow moving fans to the pulpit that sees DJs play at weekend. Elsewhere the bricks are bare, expect for the mural of the biblical Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse, which looks like it’s been there tempting sinners for decades.
