Let 1960s icon Emma Peel guide you into the hedonism of Swinging London, when Britain led the world in fashion, art, music and fun, when the rich and stylish jetted to beach resorts, drove sportscars over Swiss mountains and sailed yachts into St Tropez.
No one sums up the verve of the era more than Mrs Emma Peel, the catsuited, karate-chopping amateur agent played by Diana Rigg in TV series The Avengers, foiling plots by eccentric villains in country houses, on giant chess boards and in secret laboratories, while trading flirtatious quips with her partner, the bowler-hatted gentleman spy John Steed.
This time it's a special party with a cosmic twist—pitching the aristocratic whimsy and British cool of The Avengers against the playful space-fantasy eroticism of Barbarella. Who will gain the upper hand? You decide!
Based on a comic strip, 1968 movie Barbarella starred Jane Fonda as an innocently sexual, space-travelling agent with an endless supply of glamorously impractical costumes, in a plot involving dangerous clockwork children, a blind angel, whip-wielding leather robots, a machine that kills through orgasm and a city built on a pool of liquid evil called the Mathmos. Our party will feature robot-girl burlesque from Cherry Shakewell and a prize from the Mathmos lava lamp company for the best costume!
Our party is in a penthouse club — when you arrive, take the glass elevator to the top floor where open terraces offer views over the city.
