Description

You'll find Hand of Glory perched on the crossroads between Amhurst Road and Shacklewell Lane, and within walking distance of the Hackney rail stations. Decked out with giant maypoles, wicker masks, brass icons and even featuring an encounter between a straw bear and a ghostly mare, this intimate pop-up bar is a project sponsored by the Shoreditch-based arts gurus at Jaguar Shoes. The venue holds archaic British folk culture at the very core of its identity, and it teams an assortment of quality teas and espressos with delightful countryside ciders, cask ales and a cocktail card that is altered according to the demands of the season.

Hand of Glory isn't excluslively about booze and art though, as Mark Edwards - founder of street food vendor Fleisch Mob - is on hand to deliver a traditionally British menu to combat guests' hunger. This endearing Hackney based pop-up is a must for art and cider lovers alike, with their rotating array of 'deadly ciders' coming courtesy of a collection of the UK's leading independent brewers.

Make sure to check out Hand of Glory' sister venues The Victoria and Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes.

Menus

  • Cuisines

This venue serves British, Pub Food, Burgers, Roast Dinner, Vegetarian Friendly and Vegan Friendly food.

  • A word from the chef:

In the kitchen we have Bun & Grain Shack, an original food outfit founded by Chef Fedja Stanic. He draws his influences from his Balkans upbringing, living in Spain and London. Founded in 2016 as a concept around different proteins served either “Dirty” in brioche buns with fries or “Clean” with ever-changing seasonal grain / pulse salads for the more health conscious. Sunday roast also available every week. We recommend you book in advance to avoid disappointment! The REALLY WILD DOG, our specialty is a Hotdog built from a Frankfurter that’s handmade to our recipe in the wilds of the Yorkshire fells with a cross breed of wild boar and wild pig and is (to our knowledge) the first ever Iron Age pig Frankfurter!! It’s delicious. Eat a classic or try The Beer Dog, a classic Wild Dog frank poached in delicious JaguarShoes Collective Milk Lager. NEON SLAWS – Pink – Orange – Green, will give you a tangy burst of flavour, a vitamin kick and three neon flavours. WILD BURGER Just like a classic burger, but with added Iron Age pig bacon! Served with melted cheese, and our special recipe burger sauce, on a soft, toasted burger bun.
